History Of Yoga

The history of yoga dates back anywhere from five to eight thousand years ago.. First of all what is yoga? Yoga is a discipline to link oneself with something that is very significant. So yoga is a linking process. It could be the highest level of link with some higher force. Yoga includes attention to all aspects. Yoga teaches us to focus on ourselves. In the west, yoga is very popular as a physical exercise. It is found that about 30 million Americans practice yoga. Many say that the history of yoga originated around 500B.C during the time of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.
The Hindu histories also state that yoga has been used by ancient people. Researchers also increasingly favor by presenting reports to prove the evolution and history of yoga. The history of yoga classifies yoga into four distinct types based on its evolution period. They are Vedic yoga, Preclassical yoga, Classical yoga, Postclassical yoga. Yoga styles performed differ from one another based on the above mentioned classification. Though yoga is an ancient practice its significance and benefits have made this art popular and existence. There is no wonder that the current days of yoga will also get into the books of history of yoga and the yoga will co-exist with the mankind.
