Lenten meditations

Meditation is a process by which we come closer to God and become more spiritual in our thought. Apart from the physical and mental benefits of meditations it is a way to control our feeling and be one with God. Christians use this process to pray and be nearer to God during their religious festivals like Easter and Christmas. Especially during Easter, the period of forty days of repentance and penitence which starts on Ash Wednesday to the Easter Weekend, is used for Lenten prayers and meditations. The Lenten meditation is held during Easter and it usually begins a month before Easter leading up to Easter. Lenten meditation is conducted in congregations and churches and a large number of people join the gathering to pray and for Lenten meditation. Though there are many different ways to meditate the Lenten meditation is usually conducted during the month of Lent, the month in which one sacrifices something for one month. Fasting is also a part of the month long prayer and meditating process. The month also sees the Christians place a pinch of ash on their foreheads as a symbol of humility. Such prayers are also held during the festive season of Christmas and a number of people attend the Christmas prayer meditation.
